INGREDIENTS
Whole coffee beans: Paul recommends Groundwork Organic Big Easy
Water
Sugar and cream (optional)
STEPS
(1) Fill your kettle and put it on to boil. Allow it to cool a few moments before step 3.
(2) Grind the coffee beans until they are medium-fine. Paul recommends ½ cup of whole beans to make approximately 3 10-ounce cups of moderately strong coffee.
(3) Pour about ¼ cup of the hot water into the French press. Swirl around the water inside the canister to gently warm the glass. Empty the water out.
(4) Pour the freshly ground coffee into the French press.
(5) Pour about 4 ounces of the hot water onto the freshly ground coffee. Allow the coffee to bloom in the hot water for about 30-60 seconds before pouring the rest of the hot water into the French press.
(6) Sit the press on top of the glass canister to seal in the steam. Do not push the press into the canister yet. Allow the coffee to brew for about 4 minutes. Leave the press on top of the canister for the entire time the coffee brews.
(7) Lift the French press, hold the top, and gently press the coffee grounds down to the bottom of the glass canister. (Check out our video; Paul shows you how to do this!) Pour out the coffee and enjoy!
OPTIONAL: Add cream, sugar, or whatever other condiments you would like and enjoy!
Paul’s recommendation: drink it as hot, but as safe, as possible–straight and black! Do this at your own risk, folks.
Nicole’s recommendation: add a bit of cream and sugar if you’re a novice coffee drinker!
